Meenakshi Gupta

Meenakshi Gupta, is a commerce graduate with an advanced degree in communication and 15+years of corporate career including work with global brands like BBC News, Shandwick PR. Meenakshi co-founded Goonj in 1999, with her husband, Magsaysay awardee, Ashoka and Schwab Fellow Anshu Gupta. Today Goonj works across 27+ states of India with a 1000+ team and a network of 500+ partner grassroots organizations, impacting at scale many issues like water, sanitation, agriculture, menstrual health, disaster response and rehabilitation. Meenakshi works closely with Anshu and Goonj’s leadership team to nurture and strengthen a relationship of empathy and respect between the cities and villages of India, focusing on fine-tuning and aligning Goonj’s strategy and communication to its foundational value of dignity and co-creative bottoms up community-driven approach. She is especially passionate about Goonj’s work on mainstreaming and repositioning Menstruation as a human issue beyond just ‘women’s issue.’ Widely travelled nationally and internationally, Meenakshi is also on the board of Catalyst 2030, a global network of social entrepreneurs and has been on the jury of many awards including India’s ‘Nari Shakti’ awards. An avid speaker, and a life-long learner, Meenakshi is a certified Dance Movement Facilitator and has a deep interest in human-centric design and its multi-sectoral implications. She lives in Delhi with her husband and daughter.
