Country Program Manager, WeEmpower Asia, UN Women

Suhela Khan

Suhela has an extensive experience in management of large-scale transformational programmes on women’s economic empowerment. She aims to integrate feminist principles and strategies in programmes to enable women to recognize and challenge discrimination and gender based violence; as a pre-requisite to advance their economic rights. Her expertise lies in the areas of programme development, implementation, monitoring, measuring impact and partnership building.

She has previously worked with Central and State Government and currently, at UN Women, she is leading the EU’s WeEmpowerAsia Programme. The programme aims at enabling women to access business and leadership opportunities in the private sector. Her experience has enabled her to develop a close understanding of the intersectionality of gender and other forms of identity, and the challenges faced by them. She has provided technical inputs and edited several publications on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment.

Suhela is a Ford Fellow and holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Michigan.
